Ask one question. Tap any word in the answer and the text opens up to explain it. Every answer becomes a page in a wiki that is yours.
iOS 17 or later · Updated 12 September 2026
hello@bluecosmium.com — a real reply, usually within two days. Telling us your device model and iOS version saves a round trip.
How Dodeca works
You ask a question and receive one document — a short, readable answer, not a chat thread. Three terms in the answer are underlined as places worth digging. But you are not limited to those: tap any word, and the paragraph parts to make room for an explanation of that word in this context. Tap a word inside the explanation and it happens again. That is the rabbit hole, and the document remembers every branch you opened.
Answers end with a quiz. Answering it adds a card to your review deck, which schedules the card to come back after one day, three, seven, and so on. Highlight sentences in one of five colors with the highlighter mode; your highlights are collected on the Knowledge tab.
The twelve regions
Dodeca sees knowledge as twelve regions — natural science, technology, mathematics, life and medicine, geography, history, society, economics, philosophy and religion, art, language, and daily life. The icosahedron on the home screen has twelve vertices, one per region, and a vertex lights up as you dig into that region. Tapping Anything spins it, and you can turn it by hand to pick a region to be surprised in.
Documents and credits
What counts as a document?
One question is one document. Digging into words inside that document is included — a normal amount of digging does not use up a second document. Very heavy digging on a single page can consume a little more than one, and the plan screen always shows how many you have left.
The free documents
New installs start with a few free documents so you can see how the app feels before paying. The daily question on the home screen is a suggestion, not a free pass — asking it uses a document like any other question.
Buying more
Document packs are sold inside the app through the App Store. They are consumable credits: once added to your balance they are used up as you ask, and they do not expire. Your balance is tied to this device.
I bought a pack but the balance did not change
Give it a moment and reopen the plan screen — the credit is added when the purchase is confirmed with our server. If it still has not appeared after a few minutes, write to us with the purchase date; the App Store receipt in your Apple Account is enough for us to find and credit it.
Refunds
Payments are processed by Apple, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Questions people ask
The answer says it cannot answer that
Dodeca declines a small set of requests — asking it to reveal its own instructions, or to ignore them, for example. Rephrase as a question about the world and it will answer.
Where do the answers come from?
From what the AI model learned during training — not from a live search. Dodeca does not browse the web, so it knows nothing after the model's training cutoff and cannot look up today's news, prices, or schedules. It is built for understanding ideas, not for checking facts of the moment.
An answer is wrong
It happens. Answers can be mistaken, especially on recent events, precise figures, and anything that changes over time. Treat a document as a starting point for your own reading, not a source to cite. If something is badly wrong, send it to us — it helps us tune the instructions.
Can I use my own AI server?
Yes. Settings → AI engine → Self-hosted (Ollama). Enter your server address (for
example http://192.168.1.10:11434, or a VPN address) and pick the models for the
main answer and for word expansion. In this mode no balance is used and your questions go only
to your server. Answers depend on the model you run; small models give shorter, rougher pages.
Can I use it offline?
Reading your saved documents, reviewing cards, and browsing highlights work offline. Asking a new question or digging into a word needs a connection, because the answer is generated on our server.
I changed phones, or reinstalled
If iCloud Drive was on, your documents and review deck come back on their own the first time Dodeca opens on the new device. Your document balance, however, belongs to the device identifier, which a new install does not carry over. If you had a balance left, write to us and we will move it.
The camera or microphone button does nothing
iOS asks for permission the first time each is used. If you declined, turn it back on in Settings → Dodeca. Photos are read on the device and are not uploaded; only the text you choose to ask is sent.
How do I delete everything?
Deleting the app removes every document, highlight, and card from the device. If iCloud backup was on, remove the Dodeca folder in iCloud Drive as well. To have your device identifier and balance erased on our side, write to us with the identifier shown in Settings → About.
